Story time!
So, I had to go to the post office today, to mail out the rest of my sisters wedding shower invitations. I get in my car and the trip there is easy since it's not that far. But on the way back, a huge pack of motorcyclists were riding through the city. Now, being a biker myself, I was enthused since the weather today is kind of crappy, but they were in the left lane and I was in the right, though one lone bike was in front of me. I waved to some of them and they smiled and then the light turned green. And traffic starts to flow, but the bike in front of me is rather slow and pulls off to the side as if to say "go around me" but I stop and he looks at me and waves me on with his head, but he starts to pull forward, so I slam on my brakes and throw my hazard lights on like "OMFG I just hit this guy!" But I didn't. Thank goodness, he slowly pulls forward more and gets back in the lane and continues on. I guess it was a lack of communication between his pack and the rest of traffic. If anything, I should be able to understand how bikers ride through the city since I've been on countless rallies and am a biker. But I dunno, I feel terrible for almost running into this guy. I came home and asked my dad if it was customary for things like that to happen, and he told me that every group is different and each has different etiquette rules that they follow. I think that that bike was a little inexperienced with how things work, because personally, I've never seen such a sloppy transition, I was behind them through the next intersection and it appeared to go a lot better with a different bike doing that.
I still feel bad. >.<
Me: "I still feel terrible for almost hitting him."
Dad: "Did you hit him?"
Me: "No."
Dad: "Then don't feel bad"
I mean, bikers are used to jerks on the road, but that was the first time ever that I was that jerk on the road.
I almost feel like I should hunt down that group and write an apology letter.
>.<
I'm sorry to my fellow motorcyclists.
Forgiiiveee meeeeeee.
Anyway, I just feel like a jerk right now.
